It's a Wonderful Life

This movie is about George Bailey's life how he saved people even though his life was in misery. Then he almost committed suicide on Christmas Eve, but then his guardian angel saved his life by showing him a life without him being born.

George Bailey,

From the Bailey family who saved uncountable people, without him tons of people could've die. He is one of the most inspirational people ever, he puts his life in front of other people. Once during the Great Depression he gave out his honey moon money for the sake of these people's lives. Even though George wasn't born in a wealthy family he learned to still help the others who needed more help than them. He knew he had a family to care for but they supported him especially for his wife, Mary.

Sometimes love is all you need to live on, he wasn't rich at all but Mary and all his other kids supported him. He almost commit suicide once because money was lost and he needed it otherwise he's going to jail. But his guardian angel, Clarence came to save him showing the world without him born. The world without him was horrific his brother died, Mr. Gower went to jail, the village was named Pottersville, his wife is a librarian....and more. In life when something small is done changes everything, don't ever think whatever choice or thing you do in life isn't important. George Bailey changed, and made people's life out of misery.

So people who want to commit suicide don't think that you aren't worth living in this world because if it weren't for you our world wouldn't be like this.

Harrison Bergeron

Dear Mom and Dad,

You might not know me but I'm your son. I remembered clearly that I was captured in the prison because of my smartness, handsomeness, and strength. How can the world change so much? Dad do you realize that every time you think of something that's smart it gets forgotten by the handicap? Our world is going crazy by trying to make everyone equal, but how can people live in such kind of world? The government doesn't want people who are different they want everyone the same, and if people who are different needs to be treated equally as others.

My dear mom and dad this is why I'm in prison now. I'm stuck here with huge earphones, metal handicaps, and a clown nose just to keep my handsomeness away. Every minute I get creeped out awaiting for the screech of noise because of my smartness. I really do hate every moment spending time in that prison, and especially the Handicapper General. She did everything to destroy me and make me equal just the same as everyone else.

I believe no one gets to deserve to be treated like this. I wanted to be free and just myself, and interact with the society. I have decided to escape that cellar and into that ballet show. I needed to experience being myself again with my handsome body, using my smart brain, and tearing off the metal handicaps with my strength. The world needs to know that everyone deserves to act freely, and be themselves. These people who wear handicaps, has a mask covering their face, wearing metal handicaps...etc. needs to experience the better them for just once. If people are like that in our world we can't possibly enjoy, and have fun since everything is so equal. Sometimes the difference in looks, strength, and smartness is necessary for a living in our life. Mom and Dad make sure you're watching TV at 3:50 PM and how the world is going to change.

Love Harrison Bergeron
Mom and Dad this is a picture of me, and please don't think I look like this I'm actually very handsome,  and powerful.

Forrest Gump

"Run! Run! Run! Run, Forrest! Run!", said a blonde little girl. On the road another kid, a boy he ran and ran other kids chasing after him. He felt so free, and alive for the first time.

Forrest Gump the boy who ran like hell, and this is his movie. He's one of the most wonderful, and strangest man you could've ever known. This movie is one of my favorite movies, and Forr
est Gump is my favorite character of them all. He had an unexpected, and complicated life that I could never had. Gump went everywhere in life he went to Vietnam, China, all over america, and also "The White House."

I loved this movie, Gump taught me everything like, "Mama always said life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." Well it is and Gump never knew what he's gonna get, because life is a box of chocolates you decide what you want to get. He did all kinds of crazy things he ran across America, meets the president many times and other famous people like John Lennon and the Black Panthers, invests in apple computer, and even made a speech at the Washington Monument about the Vietnam War. Gump also tried finding his true love with Jenny his best friend. She was very different from Gump, she messes up her life. Every time Gump finds her, she always gets a way to run away from him. When Gump tries to marry her she refuses because she think she's not good enough and leaves him again. But no matter what Gump believed Jenny needed a better man to take care of her. Forest Gump a billionaire, famous ping pong player, a celebrity, a hero...etc. Even though he has a low IQ he succeeded in his life. He made his life worth living.

The Landlady

Unexpected, well "The Landlady" is funny and quite creepy. But it's very unexpected, and the ending is an unexpected twist. I could never possibly imagine such an ending mostly I couldn't believe Roald Dahl writes this. He wrote The Landlady by starting off normally and slowly it starts hinting clues to make it seems creepy. Then at the end you were confused, but afterwards you slowly realize what has happened. In the end of the story the landlady poisons Billy's tea and intends to kill him for taxidermy like she did to the previous guests she had. I know....it's totally perverted by using people for taxidermy. The story is great but Roald Dahl is just weird, I loved the way of his writing and imagination (even if it's perverted).

Pride & Prejudice

From what I think of "Pride & Prejudice" so far is funny, and written in an old fashion way. I love all the characters in the story so much. In Pride & Prejudice Elizabeth is one of my favorite characters, she never cared of what others think. Elizabeth is smart, and has her opinion, but she is prejudiced. I never believed in first impressions, but Eliza did she hated Darcy the first time she met him. Sometimes you really need to know that person well enough to really judge him/her. Because afterwards when Eliza goes to Pemberley and meets Darcy by accident she realizes that Darcy isn't that proud at all. The writing style is very old fashion, but funny in a way too. I think Jane Austen is a great author even if this book was during 1813 and now is 2013 it's still quite interesting to read. There were some difficulties for me while reading, but I managed through.

P.S. 2013-1813
= 200 YEARS!!

Sherlock Holmes: The Red Headed League

“The Red Headed League” is a real mysterious, and creepy story. This short story builds up suspense, and solves a mystery. I really loved this story, because you could really feel the frustration of Dr. Watson, because he couldn’t solve the mystery like Sherlock does. Sherlock is a person that sees people, and things in very detailed ways, and he doesn’t have friends which is incredible. If Sherlock is a real character, then I would definitely want to be friends with him. He doesn’t have any friends, because people thinks he’s weird by looking at us and knowing our whole life. But I believe that’s a real cool thing he can do. In this story Sherlock already knows about the whole mystery happening on, and I thought it was all because of the red head job that’s being weird in the story. But when everything gets solves out at the end, you just couldn’t believe because it was exactly the opposite of what you thought it was. Sherlock Holmes: The Red Headed League is an interesting, and mysterious story that’s worth reading.

The Road Not Taken

"The Road Not Taken" is a short poem of a traveler who's encountered two roads, and he wonders which road should he choose.

The Road Not Taken
by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

An both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I –
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.

This poem teaches us in the world you don't always have to follow other's steps, if you're who you are be yourself. In the poem the traveler chose the way that's different than others, so in life there are many choices you can make and it always depends on yourself. I believe following behind others isn't what we are, we should really represent ourselves by choosing the choice that we want. We shouldn't be afraid for the choices we make, people should be proud of the choices. People might be scared that others will laugh at our decision, we should never be afraid. The choices we make really do make a big difference in our life in the future.

The Girl in the Fireplace

In this episode of Doctor Who, I've learned that we always have to cherish every second we have in life, even if it's a short time. In the episode Madame de Pompadour cherished the seconds with the doctor, because whenever Doctor leaves and comes back it's passed 3 or more years. So whenever Pompadour sees Doctor she cherishes her time between her and the Doctor. You might always regret  the short time you spend with this person, when you find out they're dead. It shows us that we have to cherish, and use our time wisely with one another. Also we need to learn to trust the people that we love, Pompadour trusted Doctor so much she even believed that she would die just for the Doctor. "TRUST," is always needed in the world, people can support each other and have each other when there's trust.

Lamb to the Slaughter

This is how I would defend for Mary Maloney in "Lamb to the Slaughter."

There are many reasons I believe that Mary Maloney isn't the murderer of Patrick, her husband.

First of all, Mary left the house to buy groceries because her husband as usual is tired, and so she wanted to cook dinner for him. Mary went to buy the groceries from Sam, and when she came back her husband died. She had no idea why he died, and it's not her fault. No one witnessed that she killed, or act in a strange way. Sam from the grocery shop can prove that she went shopping, and how she was acting normally, or strangely.

Second reason, even if she did (which she didn't) we shouldn't blame her because her husband was going to leave her, and which kind of dad would ever leave his wife with an unborn child. I for instance would definitely kill my husband (if I had one), how possibly can someone be so cruel and cold hearted. I really don't understand, when someone is having a baby that's the most important part when they need someone to rely, and support them.

The Lottery

The Lottery is a short story, basically talking about how the villagers in the village has The Lottery Event. Each villager will pick a lottery ticket, and the person with the name on the paper will be killed by stone killing. But it doesn't say the stone killing until the end of the story, the beginning and middle described everything about The Lottery Event.

Predicting the Ending of "The Lottery"

I believe that The Lottery will end up by the people who gets chosen will have tons, and tons of money. But a part of me thinks it's not going to end up like this, I'm not sure because it seems like it'll end up unexpectedly. So, personally from what I know about lottery's you get to have money. Maybe my other prediction to the people who gets chosen is that they'll get the power to rule the village, since it's such a small village.

Response

The Lottery really surprised me at the end, I never realize that people can be like this just because of "tradition." It was so powerful, that when it got passed down people still didn't realize that stone killing is a bad thing to do. In the front of the story it basically tells how the lottery works, and what the villagers talk about the small details of the lottery rules. The villagers really don't care about the death, they're all used to it. So sometimes traditions aren't always a good thing, sometimes it may be bad. There's another thing I realized about Tessie the one being killed in the story. When she first came to the place for the lottery she start making jokes, and was chatting. But at the end she started panicking because his husband's family is being chosen. Which tells me that people usually don't care when nothing is going to happen to themselves, but when they have something happening to them they care a lot. So if Tessie wasn't picked for death, she won't even care if others die. I realized this when Kassy told me Tessie is trying to change, and stop using the tradition in the village, but apparently Tessie cares only about her and her family.

This world has to change, we can't always be the same and learn these things from the past. The villagers from The Lottery are using the thinking ways about the past, they need to change to new thinking ways that're more reasonable. I believe that even if the tradition is passed down, we should try not to always use what they do, the world can have changes.

Doctor Who

Kassy and me watched 2 episodes of Doctor Who. It’s a TV series about a person, Doctor who’s an alien. He travels in time, and always saves the world.

On the other episode called “Father’s Day,” it taught me a lot about time traveling how it works. Apparently it’s about Rose a human, goes back in time with Doctor to see her dad because her dad’s dead in the present. When they got back all the time was mixed up because of the time, and Rose made a paradox. Rose saved her dad in the past, but she made a paradox. At last her dad found out she was from the future, and her daughter.

I understand Rose in Doctor Who, because I know how sad it is losing her father. She didn’t want her father to die alone, so she saved him. Rose definitely knows she made a huge mistake, but it must’ve been worth it for her. Her mistake caused trouble, but she spend her time chatting with her dad and they made a connection. Time travels can really make a mess with all the rules, but for Rose all she wanted was to see, and save her dad. Sometimes if some people really wants this thing, she definitely will do anything that can help her try to get it. It ended as her dad dying, because that’s the only way to fix all the trouble she made.

The Devoted Friend

"The Devoted Friend, talks of a bird telling a story to a rat. The story is about Han who is a generous, and kind person. He has a friend, Miller who's really rich, but Miller sees friendship in a different perspective. Miller uses Han as a slave, not a friend, but Han who's really foolish and doesn't know what Miller is doing to him. When the story ends the stupid rat doesn't understand about the story."

In my perspective of "friendship," I think friendship is the relationship you've built up with your friend, and it can't be about the trades, or bets you've met. Han was a really good friend to Miller, but Miller wasn't even friends with Han, Miller treated him as a slave. Friends are suppose to support each other, when the other needs help, and is being left alone. If your friend is alone, and you're not there to keep her accompanied then what's the use. When Han was suffering in the winter, Miller never did came to support his friend. Miller thought by using words to support his friend is all that's needed. This is not what friendship should be, we should accompany, support, and help each other. So I don't agree at all in the way Miller says, he says we shouldn't be selfish at all since we're friends. He says this, but never accomplish, to me he's lying to Han. Miller is a selfish, and unkind person, he's such a rich man and knew Han was poor but never helped out with him. The moral to this story might be that you can't just say something with your mouth, things have to be accomplished not just by saying, but by doing.

The Nightingale and the Rose

This story is about the Nightingale sacrificing herself, and helping a young student who needs red roses to dance with a girl. So she sacrifices herself to make a tree to bloom by using her blood.

The Nightingale sacrificed herself for a boy who's in love, I believe that love is so important to her that she sacrificed herself just for a boy to have a life that's full of love. Nightingale sang and sang to the moon, while pressing herself into the thorn. I can feel what she's feeling, the pain while singing. She sang from the depth of her heart, I'm really touched and sad that she's died. If the story is true I hope one day the girl, and the young student will realize all the hard work she's done to bloom red roses from her blood. Her courage of suffering till death, Nightingale has such a beautiful, and loving voice that makes everyone fall in love to. Her death was worth it to her, LOVE is such a deep, and warm word, it's important when where this word is said. I wish the ending ended better for Nightingale, she's a loving bird that deserves to be loved too. This is one of the most touching short story I've ever read, and  I love the way Oscar Wilde wrote this story.

Seeing the Sun for the First Time

Kassy and I read a short story called "All Summer in a Day". It's a story about people on Venus who never see the Sun, and on a specific day the scientists predict that the Sun will come out. So this is a paragraph about me experiencing the first time seeing the Sun.

Deep down my crushed, blackened heart, there was nothing no brightness. No smiles, laughter, and music were ever heard. Everyday huge droplets splatters one after another, it never stops, it’s continuous, again, and again. But today I feel hope spread in the city, today was the day when it’s been told sunshine, the big sun is finally shining on Venus. Furious raindrops fall as we wait upon the sun, the forest is full of darkness, and loneliness. We wait, and we wait, suddenly drops of angry rain came smaller, and smaller, slowly nothing was poured onto the long, endless road. We tilt our tiny little heads up towards the sky, the sun it shines toward me. I felt a burst of energy, it pushes itself shaking the black clouds away, and there stood our powerful, energetic sun.

Everywhere in the city is filled with the brightness, I felt overjoyed, my heart now thumping with life and happiness. I burst into the woods, trees opening for a gasp of sunshine, one after another the trees are filled with colorful leaves that we’ve never seen. The lifeless city in just a second turned into a city that’s shined like bright diamonds. Kids run down the street holding hands sending out laughters and joy. Big smiles were all over the city, and music were heard at a faint distant, then louder and louder the wind blows everything around the city. I see myself looking up and droplets of water filled my eyes, and I smiled for the very first time of my life.

The Treasure of Lemon Brown

In The Treasure of Lemon Brown, Greg starts off having a fight with his dad. He then leaves home and goes to an abandoned house, where he meets an old man named Lemon Brown.

The treasure Lemon Brown keeps are some clippings, and a real old harmonica. Before his son went to war he gave him these treasures he had. Then when he knew his son died he was heart broken, and the army sent what he had left with him. All that was left was the treasure he gave them to his son, he knew that his son always have kept it as a treasure. He takes it with him no matter where he goes. Sometimes people define "treasure" in many different ways. Lemon Brown thinks of the harmonica, and the clippings as treasure. He thinks that it represents his life,
because he was a real famous harmonica, player at the young times. Mr. Brown didn't thought of treasure as gold, and diamonds as everyone would think of. Treasure to him is something that truly means to him, something that's meaningful and memorable.

My treasure would be books. Books fill me with inspiration, ideas, and images. I would put my life in danger just for my books. Once my mom was furious of my brother, and me so she threw something near her and that was my book. I was broken hearted when she threw it, the book was all crumpled together. Sometimes it just seems like the books talk to me, images pop into my mind one after another. When the characters in the book start having different emotions, I feel them too. It's as if I live in the world of the book. They fill me with joyfulness, I LOVE them so much. I realized that people have different perspectives on different things, and I found out that my perspective on treasure aren't just diamonds, and gold they can be things I think that are valuable for me.

Teen Tribute: "New iPhone May Come in COLORS

This article tells that iPhone has sent out invitations advertising colorful, showy, and shiny iPhone colors. It's heard that the even is on sell in Sept. 10 at Apple Inc.

Apple company start using colorful colors for there phones. First, I thought it might be because of the ugly and boring colors that they used to have, so they decided to color it to make iPhone better looking. Second, people really like to accessorize iPhone because it's so plain and not good looking, so probably they're trying to help the customers by saving their money for buying a new phone case. Third, people who buy iPhone's might be getting tired of buying these types of phones especially with boring colors, and they're losing money.

My opinion about this article is that it's so far the best invention that makes me proud of iPhone. They've done many other inventions on phones, and they're all really great. This event though is really awesome to me, because Apple is really nice to think very detailed in how the customers think. I appreciate this point, and if my parents would let me buy this phone I'll definitely buy it. The phone looks like it's full of life. The colors that are added made it look joyful, and realistic. I loved what Apple is approving in the iPhone's, and I can't wait to get one.

Thank you M'am

This story is about a boy named Roger who stole a lady's pocketbook. Instead of calling the police on the boy, the lady Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones taught him a lesson.

I thought it was a touching story. Mrs. Jones didn't have to help Roger, but she did which makes me think that she must once have had an experience like Roger. I really liked a part of the stories where they tell Mrs. Jones was being real polite not asking questions that might embarrass Roger. This shows me she's real nice, someone who doesn't peek into others' personal lives. Mrs. Jones was real generous in the story, she cooked food for Roger and gave him 10 dollars before he leaves to buy his shoes.

The ending part was the saddest of all. When Roger was about to left, he tried to say thank you but never got the words out of his mouth. Roger was speechless looking up at her as she closed the door. He never got the words out, it's a real short word but it means a lot for one person. "Thank you," I really like this word, but Roger didn't say it out. This lady might've saved his whole life by stopping the habit of stealing. I bet he might regret it, but I understand why he didn't say it because he was too shock it must've been. I really enjoyed reading "Thank you M'am," and realize that even if the word "Thank you" is a simple word, it will mean a lot for someone.
