The Devoted Friend

"The Devoted Friend, talks of a bird telling a story to a rat. The story is about Han who is a generous, and kind person. He has a friend, Miller who's really rich, but Miller sees friendship in a different perspective. Miller uses Han as a slave, not a friend, but Han who's really foolish and doesn't know what Miller is doing to him. When the story ends the stupid rat doesn't understand about the story."

In my perspective of "friendship," I think friendship is the relationship you've built up with your friend, and it can't be about the trades, or bets you've met. Han was a really good friend to Miller, but Miller wasn't even friends with Han, Miller treated him as a slave. Friends are suppose to support each other, when the other needs help, and is being left alone. If your friend is alone, and you're not there to keep her accompanied then what's the use. When Han was suffering in the winter, Miller never did came to support his friend. Miller thought by using words to support his friend is all that's needed. This is not what friendship should be, we should accompany, support, and help each other. So I don't agree at all in the way Miller says, he says we shouldn't be selfish at all since we're friends. He says this, but never accomplish, to me he's lying to Han. Miller is a selfish, and unkind person, he's such a rich man and knew Han was poor but never helped out with him. The moral to this story might be that you can't just say something with your mouth, things have to be accomplished not just by saying, but by doing.
