The Landlady
Unexpected, well "The Landlady" is funny and quite creepy. But it's very unexpected, and the ending is an unexpected twist. I could never possibly imagine such an ending mostly I couldn't believe Roald Dahl writes this. He wrote The Landlady by starting off normally and slowly it starts hinting clues to make it seems creepy. Then at the end you were confused, but afterwards you slowly realize what has happened. In the end of the story the landlady poisons Billy's tea and intends to kill him for taxidermy like she did to the previous guests she had. I know....it's totally perverted by using people for taxidermy. The story is great but Roald Dahl is just weird, I loved the way of his writing and imagination (even if it's perverted).

I was pretty surprised by the ending too. I think that was the reaction that Roald Dahl was going for. Who knew that he was so interested in horror stories? It is a little creepy but I do think it's very clever, just like how Mary kills her husband with the lamb leg in "Lamb to the Slaughter".
ReplyDeleteI think the way he drops hints is pretty cool because all the information is there, but it just doesn't click until the end. This is kind of different from "The Necklace" because Guy de Maupaussant, the author of "The Necklace", doesn't give us any clues about the ending. It reads just like a normal story until right at the end. But for Roald Dahl, we kind of feel like something is a little bit off, even though we can't quite place our finger on it.
Great job :)
